Record Block Plane No. 0102

The Record 0102 block plane is one of the smallest and lightest of the Record block planes, measuring only 5 1/2" (14cm) in length and weighing just 7/8lb. The only smaller Record planes than the 0102 were the 0100, 0100 1/2, and the 0101. The 0102 is a non-adjustable plane with a 1 3/8" (3.5cm) wide cutter.

Your questions, thoughts and opinions about the Record No 0102 plane..

I have one of these planes in the same condition as the one in the above picture if not better, with the box aswel. Is there a way of finding out the exact year it was made? Also could you give me an estimate on what it would be worth today?

I don't believe there is a way of identifying the exact year your plane was made. You can narrow the date down with clues such as the type of trade label and the type of box.

The retail price at which these planes are often sold can be seen at the top of this page on the right hand side. Currently at the time of writing this message, they often retail at around Â£15 - Â£35 in good condition.

I have a block plane that looks just like the Record Brand #0102 but it does not say Record on it. The only marking on the block plane anywhere is on the back and it says only 0102.
Is this a Record Brand or some other brand? Any idea what it is worth? It was in my Grandfather's toolbox.
